With the snow nearly here (for some of us) Apply these tips before heading out onto the Hampshire Alps with your sledges.

• location – Deep snow with no obstructions such as trees, fences or rocks is ideal
• PPE such as helmets (skateboard or cycle) gloves and warm clothes should be worn
• Walk the slope – it will help you spot hazards and determine how steep the slope is
• Make sure you have plenty of room at the end of the slope to slow down and stop
• Traveling head first should be avoided as Rocks and fence posts tend to be harder than heads
• Only go sledging in the day time
• Avoid sledging near roads, pavements, ponds or lakes (Even if they are frozen)
• If you have a DIY sledge, remove the sharp edges etc. If it’s a bin lid…….put it back after use
• Have fun 
